Honor Mother - Thank Mom - On Mother's Day!
Mother's Day is such a special time to recognize, honor, and thank a Mother or Grandmother. We would like to help you with some ideas of how to honor that special mom on this important day!
Our site: www.tohonorthem.com is a great idea to thank a mother. We would be totally missing the boat if we didn't recommend our own site as one thing you can do to bless your mother or grandmother. Registration on www.tohonorthem.com is easy and creating a unique and beautiful honor for her on Mother's Day takes an average of 5-7 minutes (all of this is free). Simply follow the easy, guided, wizard-like process. The feedback we get on the honors is frequently filled with happy-tears!
Top 10 List of Unique ways to thank or honor your mother on Mother's Day:
1.) Work with your children to create a collage shadowbox. You and the kids each fill the shadowbox by pinning pictures and notes to the back of the shadowbox. Mount it on the wall for mom to enjoy year-round. You can even refresh the shadowbox at various times during the year. Simply take a picture of the shadowbox before you remove the previous contents so you can have a permanent memory. We use shadowboxes in my own family in a very similar way to this with our children and it is a lot of fun. You can honor a grandmother the same way. (you should be able to find a great shadowbox at Aaron Brothers, Hobby Lobby, or Michael's- in fact most of my suggestions you can buy at these places)
2.) Work with the kids to create a wooden yard-sign proclaiming to the world how awesome your wife or grandmother is. This could be similar to a baby announcement stork-sign you have probably seen. The sign will be fun to create together. Use wood or use a for-sale sign and cover it. The kids can use paint or markers to write big, bold words and phrases of how much they love and appreciate mom. It's good to first trace what you want to say to ensure everything fits, trace it in pencil and then color it in.
3.) Make a Mother's Day card with colored construction paper folded in half. Cut-to-fit some white printer paper on the front and on the inside. Color flowers, birds, stars, and other simple shapes on the outside along with messages from you and the kids. Hand-made is the BEST!
4.) Breakfast in bed, kind of goes without saying!
5.) Take mom to lunch - unless you can tackle cooking - don't make mom cook on Mother's Day
6.) Work with the kids or on your own and write (and read to her) a poem, this is such a rarity and it is NOT cheesy, she will appreciate it
7.) Take the kids to a photography place and get a nice picture with them, frame it for your wife (my wife did this for me on Father's Day and it was awesome)
8.) Clean the house and/or get her car washed - this isn't a stand-alone idea you will need to do this and also get a gift such as flowers, jewelry, perfume, etc
9.) My wife just told me this one "I think what most women want is just a break" - so factor that in but remember women do appreciate a card and a gift as well
10.) Give your wife a date with her friends for Mother's Day, this is something they really appreciate!

Poem Written by our Founder's Father: "The Essence of an Honor"
The Essence of an Honor
A Poem by Allen Howard
Today was your special day
You were Honored
No dollars changed hands
No kisses or hugs were exchanged
No promotions offered
No time off given
No packages arrived in the mail
No vacations to foreign lands
But your world will never be the same
And the earth is a better place because of you
