Laura Vann's Honor Story
Mrs. Vann,
Many years ago the compassion, love and patience of Christ shown through you to a room filled with high school math students at SHS. I was one of those students in an advanced math class who truly struggled with math. Each time I would raise my hand, you would quickly answer my questions. I could feel the tension from my friends in the room as they rolled their eyes because I had yet another quetion. Then came the sweetest words, "There are NO stupid questions. Go ahead with your question Stacey". I have thought of you so often over the last 20+ years and how you showed your class that you were a real person with real feelings, and a true follower of Christ. I hope that I am able to show the compassion and patience to others that you showed to me. I am blessed to have been your student those many years ago. I graduated with honors, and you were a part of that accomplishment.

How Laura made a difference in my life
I try to stop and think before losing my patience with someone who is learning something new or struggling. I tend only to lose patience with those who are not trying, and not with those who are trying. I believe I learned this from you.
A special memory I have about Laura
Mrs. Vann had long, beautiful hair. Her voice was kind but firm. She shared her personal joys with her students and let us know that she was a true mentor and not just an instructor. Any student could confide in her with personal or spiritual concerns.

WOW!!! How did you find me? Stacey, I remember your sweet face and voice but was unaware of the way the LORD used me to touch your life. I am blessed by the honor that you have bestowed upon me! I have been a little weary in my teaching profession lately but your encouragement has strengthened me to continue fighting the good fight of faith. I pray that my students will see Jesus in me as you did :)
